The Mianning Red Army Long March Memorial Hall is a classic red tourism attraction and a patriotic education base.

The "Red Mianning Memorial Hall" is a major cultural project and patriotic education base in Mianning County under the 12th Five-Year Plan. It was established with strong support and assistance from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Tourism Administration, the National Cultural Heritage Administration, and others. After more than a year of effort, and with the substantial support of relevant departments of the Central Military Commission, families of Mianning-born martyrs from the Anti-Japanese War, the Liberation War, and the Korean War, as well as local residents, the hall supplemented its collection with physical artifacts such as ammunition used during the Red Army’s Long March, “Honor and Condolence Certificates,” “Martyr Certificates,” and “Land Certificates.” This further enriched and perfected the exhibits, artifacts, and materials on display at the "Red Mianning Memorial Hall."

The "Red Mianning Memorial Hall" is a comprehensive revolutionary memorial museum built with strong support and assistance from multiple departments including the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Tourism Administration, and the National Cultural Heritage Administration. It is a key cultural project and patriotic education base in Mianning County, a veteran revolutionary base area, under the 12th Five-Year Plan. With a red-themed backdrop, the museum employs text, shapes, objects, as well as audio, visual, and tactile effects enhanced by sound, light, and electricity to present a panoramic view of the glorious achievements made by Red Mianning during the "New Democratic Revolution" and the "Socialist Construction Period," as well as the development prospects of "Future Mianning." It allows visitors to more intuitively, vividly, and graphically experience and understand the spirit behind the slogan "Long Live the Great Unity of the Chinese Nation," and to explore the brilliant history and promising future of the people of Mianning—including Han, Yi, Tibetan, and other ethnic groups—under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, living together in harmony and prosperity within the big family of the Chinese nation, marching from victory to victory.

The "Red Mianning Memorial Hall" was designed by Tongji University. Its exterior design features two large hands clasped together, symbolizing the historical brilliance of unity between the military and civilians, and among ethnic groups, as exemplified by the "Yihai Alliance." The interior structure is arranged in the shape of the Big Dipper, symbolizing the Red Army soldiers’ march northward to resist Japan, with an emphasis on highlighting the spiritual essence of red culture and national dignity.

The memorial covers an area of 4.9 mu, with a total construction area of 2,794 square meters and an indoor exhibition area of 1,600 square meters. The total investment was 14.44 million yuan. The overall design consists of one underground level and two above-ground levels. The underground level is used for parking, while the two floors above ground comprise the entrance hall, the Land Revolution War Hall, the Anti-Japanese War Hall, the Liberation War Hall, the Mianning Topography Hall, the Civil-Military Satellite Launch Site Hall, the Mianning Economic and Social Development Hall, the Future Urban Planning Hall, a dome theater, and a souvenir shop.
