Chongqing Ocean Park is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Chongqing Ocean Park is located in the most bustling section of Chongqing’s Jiangbei European-style Street, adjacent to the Guanyinqiao Pedestrian Street, facing Longhu North City Shopping Mall, and backed by the Lifan Yanghe Sports Center. It is surrounded by upscale, well-established residential communities.

Chongqing Ocean Park is positioned to feature high-level, multifunctional marine landscapes and seaside entertainment. The park project is divided into three phases: Phase I, with an investment of over 100 million yuan, opened to visitors in 2001 as a seaside-themed park focused on leisure and water recreation. This park is grand in scale, covering an area of more than 70,000 square meters. It features thrilling attractions such as high-platform slides, raft slides, spiral slides, speed slides, and six parallel racing slides — all unique to western China. Additionally, simulated beaches and various artificial waves offer an authentic surfing experience. Other highlights include a lazy river, children's play pool, adult play pool, a standard training pool and diving pool designed for swimming enthusiasts, as well as a variety of land-based amusement facilities for children, ensuring endless fun for your little ones. The park also offers music tea houses, local snacks, Chinese and Western fast food, a wide range of food options, beer, cigarettes, and beverages — guaranteeing a delightful and satisfying visit for all guests.

Chongqing Ocean Park is the first 2A-level national tourist attraction in Jiangbei, Chongqing. The park is open to visitors year-round. A variety of cultural performances, themed promotional events, periodic art competitions, Marine Folk Culture Festival, Marine Beer Festival, Christmas狂欢Night, and Marine Valentine’s Day create an unforgettable experience for all visitors.

From a reservoir transformed into a park, and then from a park into a plaza, the fate of Ocean Park has been full of twists. In 1997, through a government investment attraction initiative, Hong Kong Yee Fung Group Development Company (now Chongqing Ocean Park Co., Ltd., hereinafter referred to as the “Ocean Park Company”) acquired the land, which was divided into Plot 1, Plot 2, and Plot 3. In 2001, Phase I of the park, built on Plot 2, took initial shape and opened to the public.

Although it was the largest outdoor swimming pool in Chongqing, this highly seasonal theme park began to face challenges just three years after opening. Open only from June to August each year, the park experienced significant daily fluctuations in visitor numbers — peaking at 7,000 people on some days, but seeing next to no visitors on rainy days. The park’s operations soon encountered difficulties.

On September 27, 2006, the city planning bureau adjusted the use of Plot 2 of Ocean Park and made the plan public. The ocean park was divided into “two levels”: the upper level became a free urban green activity park, while the original ocean park was moved underground into an all-season indoor theme park.
