Yongchuan Phoenix Lake

Yongchuan Phoenix Lake is located in the urban new district of Yongchuan District. Established in June 2005, it is a provincial-level characteristic industrial park, consisting of two parts: the Phoenix Lake Cluster and the Da’an Cluster. It is named after Phoenix Lake, one of the three lakes in Yongchuan’s urban area. The park has a long-term planned area of 50 square kilometers, with development plans already initiated for a 30-square-kilometer expansion zone, and currently 8.7 square kilometers have been completed.

The Phoenix Lake Water Park is located in the central part of the Phoenix Lake Industrial Park, approximately 6 kilometers from the Yongchuan highway exit. To the east lies Yongjin Road, and to the north it borders Chongqing City Vocational College. Yongjin Road runs along its western and southern sides, with all four sides adjacent to major urban roads, making transportation very convenient. It is also the convergence point of the extended greenbelts of Guanyinyan Mountain, Shisong Avenue, and the Linjiang River. As an important landscape node in Yongchuan’s urban greening system, it also complements the highway exit in a north-south layout, forming the terminus of the North-South Avenue and serving as a key urban hub.

Highlighting Phoenix Culture as the Theme

The current topography of the park's land resembles a phoenix spreading its wings in flight. Therefore, the entire park's planning and design revolve around the concept of the "phoenix." Through landscaping elements such as garden architecture and features, rockeries, and greenery arrangements—such as shaping the terrain into the form of Phoenix Island, using the waterfront platform as the phoenix's crown, roads as the phoenix’s veins, and varying the arrangement of tree clusters to mimic the patterns of the phoenix’s feathers—the theme of phoenix culture is emphasized. This gives the Phoenix Lake Water Park a distinctive landscape with strong regional characteristics.

Structure: “One Core, Two Blocks, Six Zones”

The entire park covers a planned area of over 1,200 mu, including about 248 mu of water surface in Phoenix Lake. The park’s planning structure is “one core, two blocks, six zones.” The “one core” is Phoenix Lake as the landscape centerpiece. The “two blocks” are the Phoenix Island Zone and the surrounding mountainous area, divided by the lake. The “six zones” are Fengwu Port, Fengqi Garden, Fengxiang Island, Fengming Street, Fengqi Bay, and Fengyi Garden.

Six Zones Showcase “Phoenix” Scenery

Fengwu Port, symbolizing “the phoenix reborn from the ashes.” Located at the northern end of the park, it features a landscaped tree array, ancient trees, a cultural wall, the Eighteen Phoenix Columns, “Dance of the Phoenix,” an Era Stage, and a musical fountain.

Fengqi Garden, symbolizing “peace and prosperity, the phoenix bringing auspiciousness.” Buildings in this zone are terraced along the natural slope of the land, creating distinct mountain-style landscape architecture. Facilities include the Fengqi Hotel, a landscaped plaza, cultural walls, willows along the Su Causeway, and the Colorful Clouds Sky Pond.

Fengxiang Island, symbolizing “the phoenix dancing through the heavens, seeking its mate across the four seas.” The island uses walking paths as the phoenix’s veins and tree clusters to mimic the patterns of its feathers, creating a highly unique green feature resembling the phoenix’s tail. The island features a convention and exhibition center with comprehensive supporting functions for industrial displays, conferences, business activities, and dining and entertainment. Other features include the Phoenix Pavilion, Phoenix Square, the Phoenix Crown Platform, the Phoenix Dance Tree Array, and the Phoenix Call Platform.

Fengming Street, symbolizing “the radiant hues of the phoenix’s colorful feathers.” Located on the western side of Phoenix Island and complementing it, this street combines the shoreline and waterside greenery to create a regionally distinctive dining and commercial street, complete with docks and pleasure boats.

Fengqi Bay, symbolizing “the phoenix resting on the tung tree, naturally exuding spiritual energy.” Situated at the southern end of Phoenix Lake, it includes landscapes such as ecological wetlands, reed-lined flower whispers, misty flowers and rainbows, and rainbow bridges with lotus blossoms.

Fengyi Garden, symbolizing “the grand music plays, and the phoenix comes gracefully.” This area creates a residential community surrounded by forest, nestled near the park. The architectural style primarily blends simplified European and neo-Chinese design elements.
