Dragon Ascent Peak has an elevation of 1,130 meters and is located 15 kilometers east of the county town on the western side of Hengshi Stream. The highest part of the mountain resembles an upright dragon's head. The mountain ridges behind the head undulate like the coiling body of a dragon. Stretching thirty li, it presents a majestic sight, layer upon layer, as if a long dragon is poised to leap into the sky. Clouds of many hues swirl around the summit, making the great dragon seem to dance wildly in the air—a truly spectacular view. Qing Dynasty poet Shen Hongkui once praised Dragon Ascent Peak in a poem: “Gazing at the layered peaks like a sleeping dragon, atop which gather clouds of brilliant hue.”
