Hongdoupo Egret Paradise is located in Hongdoupo Village, Sanfa Township, about two kilometers north of Tuncheng Town in Wuzhishan. It is a unique ecological landscape formed through the villagers' voluntary efforts to protect birds and is hailed as the "Egret Paradise."

Hongdoupo Village has only a dozen or so households, with a population of fewer than 100 people. When spring arrives and flowers bloom, flocks of egrets migrate here from distant places, bringing vitality and liveliness to the village. Lively and adorable egrets either fly and play over the green fields or perch on lush tree canopies, chirping away. From a distance, they look like white blossoms blooming on the trees. Entering the village, you'll find it embraced by greenery, with a tranquil and serene scenery. Egrets nest among the tree branches—some play and call to each other, some preen their feathers, and some feed their chicks, all in peaceful composure. The scene is deeply moving, resembling a vibrant "immortal egrets bring good fortune" painting of longevity.

Egrets first settled in Hongdoupo Village in the 1960s. Because villagers of all ages regard egrets as auspicious birds, they established a village rule: "Everyone is responsible for bird protection." They never harm a single bird or disturb a nest, creating a safe and comfortable habitat for the egrets. The village has thus become a paradise for birds. Over time, the egret population has grown significantly, eventually exceeding a thousand.

Egrets feed on small fish, shrimp, ants, leeches, and also consume certain forest pests, making them beneficial birds. The villagers of Hongdoupo have planted a large number of fruit trees on the barren slopes around the village, which objectively provide even better living and breeding conditions for the egrets.

Currently, Hongdoupo Egret Paradise has become one of Hainan Island’s renowned egret habitat eco-scenic areas, alongside Danzhou's Wujivillage and Chengmai County's Jialiantan, attracting more and more visitors who come to enjoy the company of these elegant birds.
