Haikou Bigan Mazu Cultural Park

Hainan Bigan Mazu Cultural Park is located at the entrance of Ruchuan Village, Fucheng Town, Qiongshan District, Haikou City, adjacent to Qiongzhou Avenue, covering an area of 8,800 square meters. The foundation was laid on December 25, 2008, construction began on March 31, 2009, and it officially opened to the public on March 1, 2013. It aims to become a cultural sightseeing park with Hainan characteristics.

The cultural park is designed in the architectural style of the Song Dynasty and features strong Southeast Asian characteristics. The park includes structures such as the “Bigan Culture Memorial Hall” and the “Mazu Temple,” as well as the “Zhongxiao Hall” ancestral shrine dedicated to Bigan Gong, the primordial ancestor of the Lin family across China, and the Lin ancestors who migrated to Hainan throughout history. In addition, there is a “Nine-Dragon Wall” merit plaque honoring those who contributed to the construction of the cultural park, and a “Cultural Corridor” that promotes traditional Chinese culture, ancient sages, historical figures, distinguished members of the Lin family, and the Twenty-Four Filial Exemplars. Among the individual structures, the “Mazu Temple” houses a sacred statue of Mazu, which stands 2.53 meters tall and weighs 1.5 tons. It is currently the largest fully wooden-carved statue in Asia and the largest ever consecrated statue at a Mazu ancestral temple.
