Fort Dijiao

Fort Dijiao is a cultural relic protection unit of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Fort Dijiao Fort Dijiao consists of three batteries, located respectively at the summit of Dijiao Ridge (also known as “Spoon Ridge”), and the peaks to the north and southwest. The battery on the northern peak is about 145 meters from the main battery on the ridge, while the one on the southwestern peak is approximately 190 meters away, forming a tripod-like formation. The batteries are constructed in a semi-concealed trench style. The main battery on the ridge is circular, with a diameter of 9.6 meters. The structures of the northern and southwestern batteries are diamond-shaped with exposed emplacements, featuring internal zigzag passageways that enabled firepower control over the Beihai shipping channel. The fort was built during the Sino-French War in the tenth year of the Guangxu reign (1885) to defend against French military advances. It was also utilized by border defense forces during the Anti-Japanese War. In 1994, it was designated as an autonomous region-level cultural relic protection unit.
