The Catholic Church Scenic Area on Weizhou Island, now renamed the Holy Church Scenic Area, centers around the Shengtang Catholic Church, a national key cultural relic protection unit built in 1853.

The Holy Church Scenic Area is located in Shengtang Village on Weizhou Island and is a national key cultural relic protection unit, as well as one of the "Four Great Catholic Churches of the Late Qing Dynasty." Built in 1853 by French missionaries from the Paris Foreign Missions Society, the church took ten years to complete. Its main structure remains relatively well-preserved and stands as one of the larger surviving Catholic churches in China, serving as a historical testament to the fusion of Chinese and Western cultures. The entire building primarily uses coral limestone deposited from the seabed and was constructed using meticulous mechanical design. It is a typical example of a French Gothic church from the Renaissance period. The towering Romanesque spires give a dynamic "striking toward the heavens" impression, creating an illusion of "heavenly mystique," making it truly unique in its style.
