The Lingdong Reservoir in Fozizhen, Lingshan County, is situated 14 kilometers east of Lingshan County town and was initially constructed in 1958. The dam is 30.6 meters tall, and its western side features three descending slopes covered with planted grass and greenery. Oriented east-west, the reservoir has a long, narrow shape, measuring 15,000 meters in straight-line length and up to 3,150 meters in width, covering a total surface area of 6.67 million square meters. Its water storage capacity reaches 179 million cubic meters. It was one of the ten largest reservoirs built nationwide at the time. It has now been developed into a man-made lake primarily used for irrigation and flood control, while also serving multiple purposes such as power generation, aquaculture, farming, and tourism. With its beautiful scenery, it is one of the large reservoirs under the key supervision of the Ministry of Water Resources.

The Lingdong Reservoir is also known as “East Lake” and, along with scenic spots such as Liufeng Mountain, is listed as part of Guangxi’s coastal tourist landscape area. Surrounded by lush, layered mountains, the reservoir boasts crystal-clear blue waters. Fishing islands, small villages, lychee orchards, banana groves, and seabirds create a picturesque scene resembling a mirror inlaid with jewels. Taking a pleasure boat eastward from the dam offers an exhilarating experience as waves splash against the speeding vessel. Alternatively, you can watch the brilliance of the rising sun or the splendor of the setting sun from atop the dam. The entire reservoir area is draped in a colorful glow, with dark, deep waters shimmering with golden light.
