Lingdong Reservoir

Also known as "East Lake," it is located 14 kilometers east of Lingshan County, nestled among the lush peaks of Luoyang Mountain, reputed to be the highest peak in Lingshan. A highland lake emerges here, with crystal-clear blue waters that resemble a bright mirror.

The reservoir was first built in 1958 as one of the ten major reservoirs constructed nationwide at the time. The scenic area covers a total of 7.28 million square meters and has now been developed into a multi-purpose artificial lake primarily for irrigation and flood control, as well as for power generation, aquaculture, farming, and tourism. With its beautiful scenery, it is one of the large-scale reservoirs under the key supervision of the Ministry of Water Resources and has been listed as part of Guangxi’s coastal tourist scenic area.

The reservoir stretches from east to west in a narrow, elongated shape, with a straight-line length of 15,000 meters and a maximum width of 3,150 meters. The water surface area spans 6.67 million square meters. Among the misty waters lie 15 islands, ranging from several thousand to a few hundred square meters in size. On Tianhu Island in the center of the lake stands the Tianhu Island Resort.

The reservoir dam is 30.6 meters high and 1,824 meters long at the crest, stretching majestically from north to south. On the western side of the dam, three descending terraced slopes are covered with green grass, resembling a vast camel-hair tapestry hanging in midair.

The water-facing side of the dam is inlaid with large stones, giving it the appearance of a giant dragon lying on the waves when viewed from the side. At both ends of the dam, there are also the Donghu Pavilion Hotel, Donghu Pavilion, Donghu Resort, and Linghu Qianyuan.
