Longwu Manor

Longwu Manor is a cultural relic protection unit of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Longwu Manor is located in Xindacun Village, Lingcheng Town, Lingshan County, 10 kilometers west of the county seat. It is accessible via the Yongpu Second-Class Highway and National Highway 209, offering very convenient transportation.

Originally named Xindatang, Longwu Manor was jointly invested in and built starting in 1900 by four individuals from Xindatang Village—Lao Naiyou, Lao Naixiang, Lao Naifu, and Lao Naixin. The construction took 21 years and was completed in 1921. Covering a total area of 6,769.68 square meters with a built-up area of 7,588.06 square meters, it was one of the four major “tangs” (manors) in Lingshan during the Republican era. The manor faces south and is laid out in a square “回” (return) shape. Its walls are constructed entirely from polished blue bricks, making them extremely sturdy. The estate consists of two linked quadrangle courtyards, housing a total of 110 rooms. The beams, brackets, and pillars are adorned with exquisitely crafted carvings. There are “corner towers, double corridors, and two inner towers,” with corner towers reaching up to six stories high and featuring gun ports and protruding bulwarks on the exterior.

Built from polished blue bricks, Longwu Manor appears simple and majestic from afar, while its interior features uniquely designed, winding structures with carved beams and painted rafters, exuding an antique charm. It reflects the architectural artistry of the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republican period, combining both Chinese and Western elements. The manor holds significant value for archaeology, artistic appreciation, and scientific research.

In recent years, in order to fully tap into the historical and cultural resources of Longwu Manor as well as the renowned lychee culture of Lingshan County, the county has continuously increased efforts in the protection and development of the manor. The goal is to transform Longwu Manor into a refined estate characterized by the idyllic scenery of a lychee-growing countryside and profound historical and cultural heritage. It will serve as a hub integrating tourism, sightseeing, research, leisure, vacation, and entertainment.
