The Nanning Phoenix Valley Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Nanning Phoenix Valley Scenic Area is located in Fenghuang Valley, Sitang, Xingning District, Nanning. It is a national AAA-level scenic spot and a Guangxi agricultural tourism demonstration site. Nestled between two mountains, the left one is called Tiger Mountain due to its tiger-like shape, as named by locals. Though the right mountain remains nameless, when viewed from Tiger Mountain, its silhouette resembles a phoenix bowing its head to drink water, hence the valley is named Phoenix Valley.

The scenic area mainly features natural river valley landscapes and pristine mountain scenery. It integrates mountains, water, rocks, streams, rare plants, local customs, and historical culture. Covering an area of over 1,000 acres, the valley stretches five kilometers along the river, embraced by hills and streams, with secluded trails, cascading waterfalls, abundant unique rocks, wild vines, fruits, birdsong, floral fragrance, and serene bamboo groves.

Phoenix Valley is located in Nabi Village, Santang Town, Xingning District, Nanning. Upon entering the valley, you’ll find a pond with streams flowing from both ends—one gently emerging from the mountain valley and the other slowly making its way to Sitang, eventually joining the Yong River. This stream is known as the Sitang River.

The source of the Sitang River lies in the Daming Mountains, passing through the Wuming Shileng Reservoir, with numerous mountain streams joining along the way. Walking along the creek deeper into the valley corridor, although a path has been cleared beside the stream, the ecological environment remains well-preserved, with almost no direct sunlight. The surrounding woods are dense, with maple leaves and wildflowers visible everywhere, accompanied by the continuous chirping of birds. About 200 meters in, there is a waterfall.

Further inside, there is a clear pond roughly every 100 meters. The creek is flanked by uniquely shaped rocks, which locals have named based on their appearances—some are called “Iron-Crutch Li’s Footprint,” others “Tang Monk’s Scripture-Drying Rock,” and some even “Di Qing’s Horse-Watering Trough.” Along the “Blessed Land and Grotto Heaven” section, there are various small attractions such as gurgling springs, trickling waterfalls, and “Sudden Wealth.” The deeper you go, the quieter and more tranquil it becomes, with only birdsong and the sound of flowing water. The creek also frequently makes sharp turns following the mountain terrain, often giving hikers a sense of unexpected turns on the serene path, with a flat grassy area at every bend. The round-trip hike covers about 8 kilometers.

The Nanning Phoenix Valley Scenic Area has been developed into a tourist destination that combines pristine natural scenery, fishing, swimming, barbecuing, boating, and farm-style cuisine. It is a national AAA-level scenic spot and a Guangxi agricultural tourism demonstration site. On weekends and holidays, many visitors come here specifically for its beauty, while from Monday to Friday, it often hosts student groups and corporate activities. During last year’s National Day Golden Week, the site welcomed over 5,000 visitors daily. To attract more tourists, the Santang Town government has incorporated local customs and traditions into the scenic area. On May 11th of this year, they organized a traditional folk song duet event featuring local farmer-singers, as well as a group bamboo dance involving both residents and visitors, allowing tourists to not only enjoy the scenery but also experience the local culture.
