The Dahua Odd Stones Museum is located on Jiangbin West Road in Dahua County, on the left side of the Dahua Hydropower Station, nestled against the dam and overlooking the river. Covering an area of 2,000 square meters with a construction area of 4,000 square meters, the museum houses exhibition halls, display rooms, and treasure chambers, among others, and has a collection of more than 1,000 pieces.

The museum primarily features the Dahua Colored Jade Stones, which are found in the Hongshui River section downstream of the Yantan Hydropower Station within Dahua County. These stones were formed approximately 260 million years ago during the Permian period of the Paleozoic era, belonging to marine sedimentary siliceous rocks. Their original rock is a type of siliceous stone from the alteration zones of igneous and sedimentary rocks. Dahua Colored Jade Stones are distinctive for their shape, color, texture, and pattern. Their structure is compact and hard, with a Mohs hardness of about 5 to 7 degrees. The colors are vivid, rich, and elegant, showcasing hues such as golden yellow, brownish-yellow, brownish-red, bronze, emerald green, yellow-green, gray-green, and ceramic white. These colors result from the stones being tinted by various dissolved mineral elements in water, such as iron and manganese ions. The surface of the stones is smooth and warm to the touch, like fat, and has a glossy finish. The layering changes are orderly, the color tones are natural, and the patterns are clear and expressive, giving them very high ornamental and collectible value. Since their debut in 1998, they have been highly favored by domestic stone enthusiasts and collectors, demonstrating their unique charm and superior quality that stands out among others. They have elevated the taste of Chinese stone culture, provided a broad platform for further in-depth study of this culture, and have consistently been one of the leading stone types in domestic stone exhibitions. They have won numerous gold, silver, and bronze awards in related exhibitions and competitions. Currently, Dahua Colored Jade Stones are among the best ornamental stone types in the stone-collecting world and have become top-tier treasures both nationally and globally. In September 2007, the China Association of Stone Appreciation awarded Dahua Yao Autonomous County in Guangxi the title of “Hometown of Chinese Ornamental Stones,” further promoting Guangxi’s stone culture and enhancing the visibility and influence of Dahua stones. The Dahua Odd Stones Museum has become one of the most attractive tourist attractions in Dahua and serves as an important venue for exchange and display within the stone collecting and appreciation community.
