The indentations on the Earth’s surface have created one of China’s most stunning underground gardens. Here, you’ll find springs and streams, riverbeds, and even farmland—another miraculous wonder of nature. Stretching approximately 800 meters from east to west and 600 meters from north to south, with a maximum depth of about 510 meters and a total volume of around 100 million cubic meters, the tiankeng is surrounded by sheer cliffs on all sides. The walls are steep, carved like blades, and majestically imposing. Standing at the edge and looking down into the abyss is dizzying, and through the thin mist, you can faintly see springs, riverbeds, and farmland at the bottom, where the primeval vegetation is rich and well-preserved. The Hoolong Tiankeng is one of the largest and most intact karst tiankengs discovered in China and even globally, ranking second among the top ten karst tiankengs identified in China.
