Hundred Birds Cave

Hundred Birds Cave, also known as Longevity Cave, is located at the foot of Mozhai Mountain, two kilometers northwest of Jiazhuan Township in Bama County, about 20 kilometers from the county seat. This magical subterranean water wonderland is an underground river cave and serves as the last submerged outlet of the Panlong River before it flows into the Hongshui River. Visitors must take a boat tour to explore it, covering a journey of around 1,500 meters.

The water in the cave is as still as a mirror, with unfathomable depths. Mineral springs drip from the cave ceiling all year round, resembling waterfalls. Inside the cave, you can find various stalactites such as stone eagles, stone pillars, stone curtains, and a stone statue of Guanyin, all in diverse and captivating shapes. Every two to three hundred meters along the cave ceiling, there are natural skylights of different sizes. The sunlight that filters through these openings refracts and reflects off the water, creating beams of light reminiscent of a theatrical stage, bursting with vibrant colors.

The entire cave is adorned like a crystal palace, achieving a magnificent and resplendent visual effect without any artificial decoration. Countless branching tunnels and waterways crisscross inside the cave, densely packed like a beehive, leading to unknown directions. The whole cave resembles an ornately decorated, mysteriously ever-changing underwater dragon palace.

Visitors often describe their experience during the one-hour tour as feeling like three days and three nights of a magical journey—thus the cave is called a “time tunnel.” All year round, various birds and bats such as swifts, eagles, kingfishers, and bats make their homes in the cave. At sunrise or sunset, thousands of swifts fly out of the cave entrance and skim the water’s surface in playful flight, creating a spectacular scene. This is how the cave got its name, Hundred Birds Cave.

Major attractions include Dawn Over the Village, Sea-Piercing Pillar, Waterfall, Opera Stage, Battles North and South, Elixir Refining Hall, and the Naturally Formed “Longevity” Stele.

Jiazhuan Town: Jiazhuan Township is located in the northwest of Bama Yao Autonomous County. It borders Xishan Township to the east, connects with Nashe Township to the west, neighbors Bama Town to the south, and adjoins Paoli Township of Fengshan County to the north. The township government is situated 19 kilometers from the county seat.
