Chengjiang River

Chengjiang River The Chengjiang River originates from Jiudun Village in Daxing Township, flows through four townships—Daxing, Gaoling, Chengjiang, and Anyang—and 19 administrative villages, before joining the Hongshui River at Hongdu Village in Chengjiang Township. It has a total length of 42 kilometers, a drainage area of 1,170 square kilometers, a riverbed width of 50–80 meters, a cutting depth of 5–10 meters, and a gradient of 1.55‰. In the county town area, the river has a gentle slope of 0.1–1.2‰, resulting in slow-moving water with low sediment content, giving the river its clear, blue-green hue reminiscent of lake water—hence its name. Along the upper and lower reaches of the Chengjiang River, small hydropower stations such as Baila, Xiangshuiguan, Didin, and Longjing have been built. Within the county town section, the Chengjiang Bridge on National Highway 210 and the historically renowned heritage structure, the Yongji Bridge (built in the sixth year of the Tongzhi era, 1867), span the river, adding even more charm to the Chengjiang.
