Statue of the God of War Guan Yu

The “Statue of the God of War Guan Yu” is located to the south of Changping Village, the hometown of Guan Yu, 13 kilometers southwest of Yuncheng City, and is currently the tallest and largest statue of Guan Yu in the world. The statue stands at a total height of 80 meters (the bronze part is 61 meters high, symbolizing Guan Yu’s age of 61; the base is 19 meters high, representing the age of 19 when Guan Yu started his family and career).

The Guan Yu Statue Scenic Area covers an area of over 4,000 acres, bordered by the Zhongtiao Mountain Range to the south and the Salt Lake to the north. It is divided into two main sections: a cultural landscape area centered around Guan Yu, and the natural scenic area of Shipan Gully.

The cultural landscape area consists of “one avenue and six zones,” namely the Martial Saint Avenue, the Statue Zone, the Zhongdu Folk Custom Zone, the Righteousness Through the Ages Zone, the Outstanding Figures Through History Zone, the Three Kingdoms Amusement Zone, and the management & reception zone. The natural scenic area of Shipan Gully houses the ancestral tomb of Guan Yu. The gully features majestic mountains, protruding ridges on both sides, unique landforms, and a strong sense of wild nature. It boasts spectacular mountain scenery formed by peculiar rocks, waterfalls, clear pools, and serene valleys. The tomb faces the Salt Pool and is surrounded by mountains on three sides, gathering favorable geomantic elements from all directions—like a auspicious bird cradling a jewel—which lifts the ancestral tomb of Guan Yu, believed to be the birthplace of a sage. The Shipan Gully rafting course spans 1.5 kilometers, starting from the “Shixiazi” Reservoir and ending at the back lake gate of the “Guan Yu Han City.”

The Guan Yu Statue Scenic Area, invested in and built by Henan Tianrui Group, is a monumental project aimed at promoting the culture of Guan Yu, revitalizing Yuncheng’s economy, and benefiting its people. It holds significant practical importance and far-reaching historical value in enhancing Yuncheng’s visibility and boosting the city’s economic takeoff.
