Once the Yuncheng Ancient Yellow River Ferry passes Longmen, it is blocked by the Qinling Mountains and turns eastward, flowing mightily and winding through a channel over 10 kilometers wide, traversing the Central Plains, passing through the Qilu region, galloping thousands of miles before joining the Bohai Sea. Later generations called this tree the "Sacred Cypress," built a temple to enshrine it, and named the place “Dayu Ferry.” Maojin Ferry is located four kilometers south of Pinglu County. According to the Northern Wei Dynasty’s Li Daoyuan in his Commentary on the Water Classic, “Shan City faces Mao City to the north, hence the name Mao Pavilion; it was also a garrison town called Maosu, and the ferry was thus named.” Hence it is called Maojin Ferry, also known as Shanjin Ferry.
