Located to the north of Wumei Divine Mountain on National Highway 206 in Didu Town, Jixiang Temple is one of the famous temples from the Ming and Qing dynasties within Jieyang City, as well as one of the four major temples of ancient Didu. With a history of over 600 years, restoration began in 1988. Its Mahavira Hall features an ancient palatial-style wooden and earthen structure with 36 stone pillars erected. The plaque inscribed with the characters “Mahavira Hall” was handwritten by Zhao Puchu, the then-president of the Buddhist Association of China and a renowned calligrapher. The grand golden Buddha statue enshrined inside is dazzlingly radiant, making it one of the largest Mahavira Halls in Guangdong.
