Tenglong Temple

Tenglong Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Located about 1 kilometer north of BanYang Village in YuJiao Town and backed by the main peak of Dajiling Mountain, Tenglong Temple is a renowned ancient temple with a history of over a thousand years. It was originally built in the late Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty. Renovated in 1993, the temple features a four-straight-alley, four-courtyard architectural layout, consisting of a three-mountain gate, front and rear halls of the main hall, and a scripture depository. The horizontal plaque at the top of the main gate is inscribed with three large golden characters reading “Tenglong Temple.” The door tower walls are constructed or adorned with polished granite, complemented by stone carvings and paintings that shine brilliantly. The corners of each door’s roof are adorned with high upturned eaves, and the ridges are decorated with porcelain-inlaid clay sculptures featuring patterns such as “Two Dragons Fighting for a Pearl” and “Heavenly Soldiers and Divine Generals,” all varied in form and lifelike in appearance. The main gate hall is built in a central-axis temple style, with red pillars, green eaves, and glazed tiles. The entire temple preserves the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty while incorporating local artistic elements, giving it a majestic and splendid appearance.
