Valley of Solitude is located in Guhu Town, Chao’an County, integrating a collection of mountain-waterfalls and themed around adventure, exploration, and romance. The Valley of Solitude Waterfall Scenic Area lies within a small natural village called Fengtu in Gaoyuan Village, Guhu Town, nestled in a mountain valley gorge approximately 5 kilometers long, known as Potoukeng. It is about 40 kilometers from downtown Chaozhou, and its natural landscape and geographical location are quite distinctive — it borders the Phoenix Mountain Third-Level Hydropower Station to the east, connects to the provincial-level forest reserve Wanfengshan Forest Farm to the west, leads southward to the Shanhui Highway near the Han River, and adjoins Fengshun County to the north, sitting at an elevation of just over 300 meters.

This lesser-known scenic area is most unique for its six waterfalls of varying sizes and forms, hidden deep within the valley. The streams cascade down in meandering flows, featuring both gurgling brooks and gentle trickles, presenting a naturally harmonious and beautiful landscape. Visitors can follow the narrow mountain paths and discover, over the course of a two-hour hike, that this valley gorge — rich in subtropical forest character and dotted with streams and waterfalls — offers picturesque scenery at every turn, truly a feast for the eyes.

Along the way, there are 15 developed attractions: Pine Rock Wave Watching, Lovers’ Rock, Maiden Spring, and the man-made bamboo shelter “Fangliu Tower,” among other leisure pavilions nestled amid green mountains and clear waters. During the hike, visitors can taste and purchase pollution-free vegetables, fruits, ginger, tea leaves, as well as locally raised poultry and livestock, and homemade glutinous rice wine — all providing a great culinary treat for travelers who have come from afar.

Transportation

Head in the direction of Chaozhou Phoenix, passing through Yixi – Wen Ci – Guhu. The drive takes about two hours to Fengnan Town in Chaozhou, after which you turn into Valley of Solitude.

Featured Farmhouse Feast: Phoenix Grass Tofu, free-range chicken, Phoenix Sesame Goose Noodles, Freshwater Snails, and tasting of farmhouse plum wine or rice wine; you can also enjoy Gongfu tea leisurely in the garden pavilions (free Gongfu tea provided)
