Fengxiang Gorge is situated on the southeastern wing of Phoenix Mountain, the foremost peak in eastern Guangdong, next to Fanlong Mountain (1036m), the third highest peak of the Phoenix Mountain range, and also marks the southern gateway to the mountain. The magnificent and rugged Phoenix Mountain range stretches and twists through the landscape, and as it reaches the area of Dashan, there is a village named Fenghu Village nestled against the main peak at 1391 meters. In front of the village, between two lush green mountains, lies a winding, meandering gorge. The valley is steep and precipitous, with crystal-clear springs gushing like jade and pearls—this is the uniquely scenic Fengxiang Gorge.

Visitors enter the scenic area through the mountain gate at the base and climb step by step to reach the Yuhu Leisure Area in front of Fenghu Village. Upon entering the mountain gate and passing through rock crevices, guests walk along newly built cement paths paved with cobblestones that wind up the mountain. Along the steep cliffside trails, the scenic area has installed long metal guardrails. Tourists can use these railings to safely admire the pristine and expansive views of the gorge while also taking some great photos.

Fengxiang Gorge retains its pristine natural beauty, with simple and unadorned suspension bridges and pavilions dotting the valley. Lush greenery covers both slopes, vibrant in hues of emerald and sapphire, displaying a dazzling spectrum of colors under the sunlight. The gorge is filled with scattered rocks, peculiar rock formations, gushing springs, silver cascades, and deep pools. As you follow the cobblestone path further uphill, the terrain becomes increasingly treacherous, with many sections featuring sheer cliffs—making it quite challenging for elderly visitors to complete the entire journey. Fengxiang Gorge encapsulates the grand and beautiful scenery of the Phoenix Mountain range’s gorges and is one of the more representative canyon waterfall clusters within the range. Waterfalls such as “Listening to the Waterfall in the Shade,” “Crystal Curtains Splashing Jade,” “Azure Dragon Drinking from the Gorge,” and “Milky Way Descending from Heaven” form the unique natural ecological water system of the Phoenix Mountains.
