The stone inscription on Liu Gong’s defense against Japanese pirates in Tanghu is a cultural relic protection unit of Chaozhou City.

The stone inscription on Liu Gong’s defense against Japanese pirates in Tanghu was originally erected by the Han River in Shitou, Longhu Town, and protected under a stone pavilion. In the 1960s, the pavilion was destroyed, and the stele was taken out and preserved within the commune. It is now located on the west side of the Longhu Fort Gate in Longhu Town. The stele stands 1.95 meters tall and is 0.97 meters wide, with vertical inscriptions in regular script. This stele records the deeds of Liu Jianhu, the Fujian Provincial Junior Consultant during the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty, who returned to his hometown to observe mourning and led local residents in resisting Japanese pirate invasions. It is an important historical document reflecting the people of Chaozhou fighting against Japanese pirates and defending their homeland during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty.
