The "Record of the Canal Excavation," also known as the "Xue Kan’s Record of the Canal Excavation," is located by the Zhongli Canal at the foot of Zongshan Mountain in Taxia Village, Jinshi Town. The text, inscribed in relief regular script, documents the process and benefits of excavating the Zhongli Canal in those days. The "Record of the Subsequent Dredging of Zhongli Canal" is situated beside the former record and describes how, ninety years after Xue Kan’s excavation, the canal had “fallen into partial disuse over time,” and how later generations initiated its redredging. …

Taxia Village: Taxia is an independent natural village. With the exception of three households surnamed Yang, all other villagers share the surname Lin. The founding ancestor of the Lin clan, Madam Huang, migrated here from Zhangzhou Prefecture in Fujian Province in the late Song Dynasty (1270 AD), and gave birth to the first-generation patriarch, Xianyin Gong, in the same year. Upon their arrival, there was an ancient pagoda on Sangpu Mountain to the south of the village. As the mountain was called Pagoda Mountain, the village was named Taxia (literally “below the pagoda”), a name that has been used ever since.

Taxia Village is located 1.5 kilometers southwest of the Jinshi Township center. It borders Xiandu Third Village to the northeast and Xilin Village of Shaxi Town to the northwest, while to the southwest it leans against Sangpu Mountain.
