Xianxi Wang Clan Ancestral Hall

Xianxi Wang Clan Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province.

Commonly known as the "Tiger Ancestral Hall," Wang Clan Ancestral Hall is located in Xianxi Management District, Anbu Town, Chao'an County, facing northeast and situated southwest. This ancestral hall was originally built during the Ming Dynasty, rebuilt in the 30th year of the Kangxi reign in the Qing Dynasty, and underwent renovations in 1831, 1930, and 1981. It now retains the architectural style and decorations characteristic of the mid-to-late Qing Dynasty.

The Wang Clan Ancestral Hall has two courtyards and one worship pavilion, measuring 30.61 meters in width and 34.25 meters in depth, with fire alleys on both sides. The open space in front of the hall is spacious, featuring a kylin screen wall facing the main gate. The architecture and decorations of this ancestral hall are rather exquisite—the stone carvings at the entrance display clear layering, elegance, and beauty, while the flat and sloping ridges of the roof are adorned with colorful ceramic sculptures depicting themes from classical Chinese opera. The figures crafted from embedded porcelain on the eaves appear to leap off the wall, vivid and lifelike. The beam framework and painted decorations in the rear courtyard are finely crafted, and the single-eave four-hanging worship pavilion demonstrates refined workmanship. Inside the pavilion hangs a plaque inscribed with “Bangyan Qiutai,” erected to honor the distinguished Southern Song official Wang Dabao. The Wang Clan Ancestral Hall is a key cultural relic protection unit of Chaozhou.

In 2012, it was announced by the People's Government of Guangdong Province as part of the seventh batch of Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relic Protection Units.
