The Huang Ancestral Hall of Fuzhong

The Huang Ancestral Hall of Fuzhong is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Chaozhou City.

The Huang Ancestral Hall of Fuzhong is located in Fuzhong Village, Guxiang Town, Chao’an District, dating back to the Qing Dynasty and classified as an ancient architectural structure.

On April 16, 2020, the Huang Ancestral Hall of Fuzhong was designated as part of the fourth batch of cultural heritage conservation units of Chaozhou City.

Fuzhong Village: Fuzhong Village

Commonly known as Puzhong. It is a cluster village comprising four natural villages: Daxiang, Beicuo, Raopu, and Fuzhai. It lies 24.7 kilometers northwest of Anbu, the county seat of Chao’an, and 1 kilometer east of the government seat of Guxiang Town. It belongs to Guxiang Town with a population of 7,054. The village is situated in a flat and open area amid hilly terrain, hence the common name Puzhong (Flat Middle). Due to the phonetic similarity and more refined connotation, “Puzhong” was later written as “Fuzhong.” According to the Huang Family Genealogy, “Their ancestors migrated here from Putian, Fujian during the reign of Emperor Duzong of the Song Dynasty (1265–1274), when surnames such as Guo, Yuan, Zhang, and Yang were already residing here.” The settlement is of a mixed layout...
