Zhengguo Temple

Zhengguo Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Shantou City.

Zhengguo Temple in Outing Back Village was first built in the fourth year of the Yongle era during the Ming Dynasty (1406), originally named Chongfu Nunnery. It was renamed Zhengguo Temple when Chenghai County was established. The temple covers a total construction area of over 1,700 square meters, consisting of the mountain gate, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, and the Scripture Depository. Within the temple stands an ancient bodhi tree that is 500 years old, with a trunk circumference of 4.3 meters. In 1994, the temple was listed as a cultural relic protection unit of Shantou City.
