The Eagle Stone Mountain Cliff Inscription Area of Nan'ao Island National Forest Park is located in the western part of Guicheng within the forest park, covering an area of over 500 acres. Eagle Stone Mountain is lush with greenery all year round, and scattered among the verdant hills and trees are granite rocks of varying heights, sizes, and shapes. There are currently more than 1,300 stone inscriptions, making it the largest such area in China. Among them are calligraphic works by renowned artists such as Shen Peng, Hu Sha’ang, Chen Dayu, and Chao Lei.

The arrangement of content in the Inscription Area is uniquely designed, with words chosen to match the shapes of the rocks. In terms of calligraphy, it selects the finest examples of regular script, running script, clerical script, cursive script, and seal script—some bold and dynamic, others flowing like clouds and water, each style distinct and exuding elegance. The inscribed phrases are incisive and refined, perfectly suited to the shapes and settings of the rocks, with every word a gem that resonates powerfully. In carving technique, traditional handcraftsmanship is employed throughout, with meticulous attention to detail. To support the development of the Inscription Area, the forest park funded the construction of nearly 4 kilometers of tourist stone stairways, built two scenic pavilions, and installed supporting infrastructure including sanitation facilities and signposts. The entire Inscription Area features a grand layout and majestic atmosphere, with a high level of cultural sophistication, allowing visitors to enjoy both the shade of the trees and a rich blend of natural and cultural ambiance, thereby enhancing the cultural depth of their travel experience. It is an important cultural tourism destination in eastern Guangdong.
