Nan'ao Island Wind Farm Scenic Area

Nan'ao Island boasts abundant wind resources, with wind conditions ranking among the best in the world. After more than two decades of development, Nan'ao has become Asia’s largest offshore wind farm. Wind turbine management is relatively strict, but the Wind Farm Scenic Area near Huoshaoling in the central part of the island is one of the few places where visitors can get up close to these towering giants, which stand as tall as 20-story buildings and have blades nearly 50 meters long. The wind power science education and tourism area was first established in 2000, and in July 2002, it was officially approved by the Shantou Science and Technology Association as a municipal-level science education base.
