The former site of Houzhai People's Commune is located on Long’ao Street, Houzhai Town, Nan'ao County, Shantou City. It is a two-story building constructed with a mix of stone and cement. Built around 1959, it originally served as the Salt Industry People's Commune before being renamed the Houzhai People's Commune in 1968.

Houzhai Town: The seat of the county government. Established as Longxi Township in 1952, it was reorganized as a commune in 1958 and became Houzhai Town in 1984. Located in the western part of Nan'ao Island, it covers an area of 29.1 square kilometers and has a population of 39,000. The town is surrounded by sea on the south, west, and north sides, offering convenient water transport.
