Xikeng Reservoir

Xikeng Reservoir is located 27 kilometers southwest of Gaoming District and 14 kilometers north of Yanghe Town. It is just 3 kilometers from Zhaomu Mountain and Wanbao Mountain Villa, and is named after its proximity to Xikeng Village. The reservoir was completed in October 1975 and is a medium-sized reservoir within Gaoming District. It has a catchment area of 10.5 square kilometers and a total storage capacity of 10.15 million cubic meters. A hydropower station with an installed capacity of 240 kilowatts is built here, generating 356,000 kWh annually. In 1990, Xikeng Reservoir was designated as one of the New Eight Scenic Spots of Gaoming.

As you enter Xikeng, all you see is green. The further you go, the more beautiful the scenery becomes. When you reach the reservoir, it feels as if you’ve entered a fascinating, dreamlike wonderland. Even more enchanting is the fact that the area surrounding Xikeng Reservoir is covered with lush forests of fir, pine, and bamboo. The emerald-green bamboo stands tall, clustering around the stretch of blue water that seems to rise straight into the sky. Thanks to the well-preserved ecology, thousands of egrets often gather and circle overhead, chirping away, creating a spectacular sight. Xikeng Reservoir offers wooden boats for leisurely paddling on the lake, as well as opportunities for fishing and casting nets.
