Gaoming Wenchang Pagoda

Gaoming Wenchang Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Gaoming District.

Gaoming Wenchang Pagoda is located in Mingcheng Town, Gaoming City. Built in the 12th year of the Wanli reign during the Ming Dynasty (1584), it is an octagonal seven-story brick pagoda in pavilion style, standing 37 meters tall. The pagoda faces south and is oriented north, with the base side measuring 3.34 meters. Each floor features horn-like eaves with carved dragon fish at the corners, and the eaves are constructed using a layered interlocking pattern of diamond-shaped and linear bricks. At the corners of the eaves is a “dragon’s mouth.” Inside the pagoda’s hollow core there is a staircase for climbing to the top, and the pagoda is crowned with an iron finial spire.

In 1983, it was designated as a cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of Gaoming County.
