Yingpanyuan Site

The Yingpanyuan Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Hunan Province.

The Yingpanyuan Site is located in Group 5, Dongtang Village, Taolin Temple Town, Miluo City, at 113°05′52.0″ east longitude, 28°57′02.4″ north latitude, and an elevation of 73 meters. The site spans a total area of 90,928 square meters and is located in a hilly area, with the surface soil planted with Chinese fir trees and dryland crops. The site is about 600 meters east of the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, connects to Lanshupo Mountain to the south, is 150 meters west of Provincial Highway S201, and links to Lishuyuan Mountain to the north. Within the site area, ash pits and cultural layers have been discovered. The cultural layer at the site section is 25–120 cm deep. A group of Shang Dynasty tombs has been found at Lishuyuan, among which one tomb yielded a rope-patterned pottery cauldron and a hard pottery jar. The pottery jar features a pierced ring foot, decorated with fingernail patterns, checkered patterns, string patterns, as well as additional stacked patterns, and is relatively large in size. A large number of samples have been collected from the Yingpanyuan Site, with the main identifiable artifacts including: pottery tripods, ring-footed plates, cauldrons, large-mouthed jars, pots, spinning whorls, grinding stones, etc. The cultural layer is quite rich in deposits.
