Ling County Revolutionary Martyrs Monument

The Ling County Revolutionary Martyrs Monument is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhuzhou City and a classic site on the red tourism route.

During various revolutionary struggles, Yanling County fought arduously to establish, consolidate, and develop revolutionary bases, with over 3,000 cadres, soldiers, and families of Red Army troops making the ultimate sacrifice, and more than 30,000 civilians losing their lives. To commemorate the martyrs and their families who bravely gave their lives in the revolutionary war, educate the public, and uphold their legacy, in 1979 the county committee built the “Ling County Revolutionary Martyrs Monument” on Xiangshan Mountain in the western part of the city. It was opened to the public on November 1, 1980.

The Ling County Revolutionary Martyrs Monument is one of the key attractions in Xiangshan Park, located 200 meters from the ancient Xiangshan Pagoda. The monument and pagoda complement each other, enhancing each other’s presence. It serves as an important leisure spot for local residents and plays a significant role in developing red tourism, as well as in conducting patriotic and revolutionary tradition education.

Amidst the lush greenery of Xiangshan Mountain stands the 23.5-meter-high Ling County Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, covering an area of over 100 square meters and constructed from granite.

Built in 1967, the monument commemorates the heroic deeds and names of the martyrs who contributed to and sacrificed for the revolutionary and liberation cause of Yanling County (formerly known as Ling County). It provides insight into the revolutionary history of Yanling.

Red Army Bridge

Spanning the Bishui River, an upstream tributary of the Mi River, this bridge was rebuilt at the site of the original iron-chain bridge to commemorate the 1928 Battle of Jielong Bridge, commanded by Mao Zedong. The Red Army Bridge is 112 meters long, has a span of 120 meters, and is 2.12 meters wide. The entire structure consists of a wooden deck, steel cables, and cable railings. Crossing this bridge offers a refreshing experience that stirs deep reverence for the revolutionary predecessors.

Celebrity Garden

Established to commemorate Comrade Mao Zedong’s revolutionary activities in Yanling County, the martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives during the revolutionary struggle, and the outstanding individuals from Yanling who made remarkable contributions to socialist construction.
