Dongchuan Academy is a cultural relic protection unit of Chenzhou City.

Overview: The academy building covers an area of 300 square meters. The first section is the main gate, flanked by side rooms. The second section is a courtyard, with corridors on both sides. The third section is the classroom, where private school students attended lessons. According to villagers, in the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Li Changgan, a private tutor from Tongmuwan Village who had studied at Hunan First Normal School (where he was classmates with Mao Zedong), returned to teach at Dongchuan Academy.

Baishaxu Township: Baishaxu Township and Bali Township were merged to form Bali Town.

Baishaxu Township is located in the southern part of Yizhang County. It borders Guangdong Province to the southeast, is 34 kilometers from the county seat, covers an area of 84 square kilometers, and has an elevation of 204 meters. It has a population of 20,000. The township government is stationed in Baishaxu. The area is accessible by road. In 1949, it belonged to Bali Township; in 1950, to Bali District; in 1956, Bai Sha Township was established; in 1958, it was changed to Bali Commune; in 1961, it was renamed Bai Sha Commune; in 1984, it reverted back to township status.
