Tomb of Li Wenxiang

The Tomb of Li Wenxiang is a cultural heritage protection unit of Chenzhou City.

The Tomb of Li Wenxiang is located in Zhongxia Square, Yizhang County, dating back to the modern era.

In 2012, it was designated as part of the third batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units by the People's Government of Chenzhou City.

Protected area: starting from the outer edge of the tomb site, extending 20 meters in all four directions.

Construction control zone: an additional 30 meters outward from the boundary of the protected area.

Li Wenxiang, also known as Li Zuomin, was born on August 5, 1879, into a poor farming family in Jincheng District (now Chengnan Township), Yizhang County, Hunan Province. In his childhood, he attended a private school thanks to his father’s meager earnings from odd jobs. At the age of 16, he passed the entrance exam for the county school. Later, he made a living by teaching at a private school in his village.

In the early 20th century, new-style schools began to emerge across the country, and some modern educational institutions were established in Yizhang County.
