“Ancient Southern Sacred Mountain” Huilong Mountain is one of the “Eight Ancient Scenic Spots” of Zixing. It is located in Tuanjie Yao Ethnic Township in the northeast of Zixing City, with an elevation of 1,420 meters and a total area of 16 square kilometers. At the mountain’s summit stands an ancient temple and a Sky-Watching Platform, both built with flagstone. A broken stone plaque at the ancient temple bears the inscription “Ancient Southern Sacred Mountain Huilong Mountain”; the temple faces south.

The entire scenic area features terrain with three steep cliffs on three sides and a slope on the fourth, surrounded by beautiful mountains and clear waters, offering enchanting scenery. To the south and east, it echoes with the Dongjiang Lake tourist area; to the east, it connects closely with the Yan Emperor Mausoleum and Jinggang Mountains; to the north, it faces Mount Nanyue; and to the west, it links with Feitian Mountain and Suxian Ridge. The scenic area contains over 150 natural attractions and more than 120 historical and cultural sites, and is home to Yao ethnic residents.

This place combines over 2,000 years of religious and historical culture with the simple charm of Yao ethnic customs. It embodies both majestic beauty and ethereal wonder. The ancient Huilong Temple at the summit is known as the “Ancient Southern Sacred Mountain Temple,” once considered the birthplace of the religious culture of Mount Nanyue. It is widely believed that prayers made here are especially efficacious. Attractions such as Watching the Sunrise from Huilong, Centennial Azaleas, Millennium Ancient Paths, Alpine Wonderland, Sea of Clouds Spectacle, the Mysterious Ancient Temple, and Yao ethnic folk customs have been drawing visitors for centuries to hike, sightsee, and worship. The scenic area enjoys convenient transportation, just a 70-minute drive from the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway and only 40 minutes from the Dongjiang Lake scenic area.
