Xiangtan Agricultural Expo Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Situated in Quantangzi in the western suburbs of Xiangtan City, it comprises 834 mu of Bailu Lake and the surrounding 2,180 mu of green hills, covering a total area of over 3,000 mu. It functions as both a science and technology demonstration base for agricultural technology exchange and conferences, and a leisure venue for people to cultivate their sentiments and enjoy fitness and recreation. It is also a popular destination for agricultural sightseeing tourism.

It is the “Central Hunan Spark Program Training Base” designated by the Provincial Science and Technology Commission, and the “Xiangtan Science and Technology Training Center” under the Municipal Science and Technology Commission. It is also a key tourist resort in Xiangtan City and a model window for projecting a positive external image of the city. Since May 1999, Xiangtan Agricultural Expo Park has entered the stage of substantive development. The first phase project, Bailu Lake Resort, was completed on December 31, 2000, and officially opened to the public. Today, it welcomes guests from all over with its naturally beautiful scenery and services as pure and sincere as nature itself.

The development of Xiangtan Agricultural Expo Park has received care and attention from leaders at all levels of the Party and the state—[names omitted], Yang Zhengwu, Chu Bo, and Bian Cuiping have all visited the park for inspection and guidance.

With its unique advantages in agricultural science and technology resources, distinctive natural agricultural landscapes, and status as a national-level agricultural development experimental base, the park has become a showcase of modern advanced agriculture. Here, you can not only enjoy the endless freshness of nature but also experience the one-of-a-kind charm of agricultural scenery.

The park’s 2,180 mu of green hills, centered around Wushiling, stretch along both sides of Bailu Lake from south to north, converging at Sharen’ao. The mountains are covered with dense vegetation that remains lush all year round. Hundreds of species of trees, flowers, birds, and animals thrive here. Amidst the vast greenery, flowers bloom in every season, fruits are fragrant all year, animals play freely, and birds sing softly.

Bailu Lake lies quietly in a north-south orientation amidst the emerald-green mountains, covering an area of 834 mu, and serves both tourism and irrigation purposes. Outside the lake, it irrigates tens of thousands of acres of fertile farmland—planting green in spring and harvesting golden crops in autumn, ensuring bountiful harvests year after year. Inside the lake, the vast waters shimmer with sparkling waves, where egrets fly and fish leap, presenting a scene full of vitality. At the lake’s tail end, a 1,200-meter-long tunnel and a 500-meter-long open channel, both artificially excavated, connect to the Shaoshan Irrigation District. The water supply here remains abundant year-round. By traveling upstream along the main canal of the irrigation district, visitors can fully appreciate the boundless pastoral scenery of the central Hunan hilly region.

The resort features interconnected landscapes with mirror-like waters and pine waves, offering breathtaking scenery. It has a construction area of 10,800 square meters, with complete supporting facilities including water, electricity, roads, landscaping, communications, television, and fire safety. Seven lakeside villas include 41 guest rooms with 77 beds, all elegantly designed. The newly built hotel service building covers an area of 12,000 square meters, featuring 120 guest rooms and 250 beds, meeting four-star standards. A main service building houses a Chinese restaurant, lobby, private dining rooms, and suites, capable of accommodating 360 diners at once. Recreational and fitness activities include “Boating on Bailu Lake,” “Scenic Views from Wushiling,” “Water Amusement Park,” a natural swimming area, and a fishing center.

Xiangtan Agricultural Expo Park is 8 kilometers from the city center, avoiding the hustle and bustle of urban life while retaining the charm and convenience of the city—an exemplary suburban location.
