Situated atop Nanmu Mountain in Sangzhi County, the temple was constructed during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty and occupied an area of 0.6 hectares. It comprised two courtyards: the front hall functioned as the Fire God Shrine, and the rear section was a two-story pavilion that housed eight revered deities — the Emperor of Mystery, the God of Literature, the Martial Marquis, Guanyin, the Queen Mother, and the Nine Heavens Life Master. The entire compound was surrounded by fire-resistant brick walls. From the pavilion, visitors could overlook the entire city. In 1925, He Long, the military governor of Li Prefecture, returned to his hometown to pay homage and, in an effort to promote traditional culture and win over local scholars and dignitaries, allocated funds to renovate the temple. The temple no longer stands today, but its ruins remain.
