Kuafu Mountain Scenic Area

Kuafu Mountain Scenic Area is situated in Kuafu Mountain Village, Wuqiangxi Town, Yuanling County, about 70 kilometers from the county town. It spans a total area of 680 hectares and features attractions including Moon Rock, Bright Moon Pool, Elephant Trunk Rock, Bright Moon Mountain, Shunmu Bridge, Pot-Supporting Rock, Widow’s Chain, Wengzi Cave, Rice Soup Creek, Ten-Mile Gallery, Golden Crown Peak, One Step Across Three Bridges, Box Rock, Divination Stone, and Stone-Piercing Rock. The area is characterized by dense forests, birdsong, floral scents, picturesque mountains and clear waters, as well as towering cliffs, representing a classic Danxia landform. It is rich in myths and folklore, with the legendary tale of “Kuafu Chasing the Sun” originating here. Its landscapes can rival those of Guilin, while its historical culture and folk customs surpass those of Guilin. The scenic area is adjacent to the Wuqiangxi Hydropower Station, a national key water conservancy project, a national 3A-level tourist attraction, and a provincial industrial tourism demonstration site. In May 2008, it was approved by the provincial government as a provincial forest park.
