Ancient City Ruins of Luopo

The Ancient City Ruins of Luopo are a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hunan Province.

The Ancient City Ruins of Luopo are located in Gancun Village, Datuo Township, approximately 20 kilometers southwest of Baojing County in the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province. Situated on the first terrace on the western bank of the Ganxi River, a tributary of the Qingshui River, the site is surrounded by mountains on three sides.

The Ancient City Ruins of Luopo mainly comprise the city wall ruins, the tomb of Tusi Peng Ding, the wooden architectural complex around the Golden Throne Hall, the Kite Flat ruins, the Aikoumen ruins, and the Lotus Pond. The remaining area is about 150,000 square meters. The tomb of Peng Ding still exists, and the layout of the city formed by the wooden buildings around the Golden Throne Hall can be identified. The best-preserved part is the city wall ruins. In January 2011, the People’s Government of Hunan Province designated the Ancient City Ruins of Luopo as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit.
