In 2019, the Former Site of the Hubei-Sichuan-Guizhou Revolutionary Base —— The Old Gun Tower on Jiaoding Mountain in Tawo was approved as part of the tenth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units in Hunan Province.

Tawo Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Yongshun County. Established as Tawo Township in 1950, became Tawo Commune in 1958, reverted to township in 1984, and was upgraded to a town in 1985. It is located in the northeastern part of the county. The town government is stationed in Tawo. Situated midway between Yongshun County and Sangzhi County, it is 46 kilometers from each county seat. Provincial Highway 1841 passes through here. The area covers 65 square kilometers with a population of 16,000. It administers two neighborhood committees: Tawo and Longhua, and eleven village committees: Xinping, Wenchang, Linan, Qiliping, Jiuchong, Guangcha, Zhilan, Xianrenshan, Zetuhu, Chalin, and Tuzhai.
