Ancient Architectural Complex of Shuangfeng Village

Shuangfeng Village is located in Daba Township, Yongshun County, and its population is predominantly ethnic Tujia. It is one of the best-preserved Tujia folk culture villages in China. In 1956, ethnologist Pan Guangdan came to Shuangfeng Village in Yongshun for an investigation and discovered that this mountain village had preserved its folk culture in an intact state. The local language, customs, architecture, and folk culture are all very distinctive, providing important evidence for the recognition of the Tujia as a single ethnic group. It has been hailed by all sectors of society as China’s “No. 1 Tujia Village.”

Daba Township: Shuhe Township, Daba Township, Fuzhi Township, Diaojing Township, and Lingxi Town have been consolidated into the newly established Lingxi Town.

Daba Township is located in the southwestern part of Yongshun County, with National Highway 209 passing through its territory. The township covers a total area of 82 square kilometers, including 1,400 mu of cultivated land and 5,500 mu of paddy fields. It administers 9 village committees and 63 villager groups. In 2001, the total population of the township was 8,206, including 350 non-agricultural residents.
