The Bronze Statue of Huang Xing is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Bronze Statue of Huang Xing

Located at the eastern foot of Turtle Mountain in Hanyang, Wuhan. Huang Xing (1874–1916), born in Shanhua, Hunan (present-day Changsha), was a bourgeois revolutionary. He studied in Wuhan in his early years. During the Xinhai Revolution, he commanded the famous Defense of Yangxia in Wuhan. The statue was erected in 1933, designed and crafted by Jiang Xiaoqian. It was originally placed behind the Aolu Pavilion on Snake Mountain in Wuchang, and relocated to the east side of the Yellow Crane Tower Theater in Wuchang in 1955. In October 1985, it was moved to its current location. The statue stands 2 meters tall on a 3-meter-high bluestone pedestal. Dressed in a Western suit and with his coat flap held up, Mr. Huang Xing has an impressive and dignified presence. (Third Batch)
