Dayu Mythology Park

Dayu Mythology Park is located on the Yangtze River’s riverside in Wuhan and is a landscape garden themed around sculptures of the myths of Dayu. It is divided into three zones—upper, middle, and lower—as well as the China Flood Culture Exhibition Hall, making a total of four parts, mainly telling the story of Dayu taming the floods.

Upper Zone: From the north side of the Hankou bridgehead of the Yangtze River Bridge to the south side of the Dayu Sacrificial Platform (currently the box-type waterproof wall), it consists of a jade-faced statue, the Twin Dragon Gate, the bronze sculpture “Yinglong Drawing the Rivers and Seas,” and a relief carving depicting Yu’s father Gun taming the floods.

Middle Zone: Centered around the Dayu Sacrificial Platform and the connected circular Nine Tripod Square, it includes bronze sculptures such as “Cutting Open Gun, Yu Is Born,” “Fighting Xiangliu,” Yu Reviewing the Nine Tripods, and the round sculpture “Passing by Home Three Times Without Entering,” as well as a series of high-relief carvings depicting the northern flood-taming myths of Dayu. Among these, “Dayu Taming the Floods in the North” is currently the largest high-relief in China.

Lower Zone: From the north side of the Dayu Sacrificial Platform to the riverside area near the outer wall of the Qingchuan Pavilion scenic area, it features scattered chain-style stone carvings about Dayu’s southern flood-taming myths, seal engravings on Lantian stone, and a 6-meter-tall River-Calming Pillar.

China Flood Culture Exhibition Hall: Approximately 80 meters long, it faces HanYang’s Xima Chang Street, has a bluestone-paved floor, and contains an 800-square-meter exhibition hall.
