The Bethune Memorial Hall in Wuhan is a patriotic education base.

The Bethune Memorial Hall is divided into an indoor memorial exhibition hall and an outdoor memorial square. The indoor exhibition hall, themed around "medical ethics and professional conduct education," primarily uses text and images to comprehensively introduce the honorable life and moving deeds of Comrade Bethune, promote the spirit of Bethune, and showcase the image of good doctors in the Wuhan area who embody the Bethune spirit in the new era. The first group of doctors honored as "Bethune-style good doctors" includes Qiu Fazu, Gui Xien, Zhang Yingtian, Jiang Zexi, Chen Manxian, and Wang Zhengyan. The outdoor memorial square is located in the square in front of the hospital’s outpatient building, consisting of a statue and a flower-offering and oath-taking area, intended for paying tribute and taking oaths.

The Bethune Memorial Hall, built at Wuhan No. 5 Hospital, has been designated by the Wuhan Civilization Office and the Wuhan Health Bureau as the city’s first medical ethics and professional conduct education base. In the future, all medical staff in Wuhan will receive the baptism of the Bethune spirit here before beginning their practice.

Wuhan was the first stop in China for Dr. Bethune on his journey to the battlefield, and the place where he had his first meeting with Chinese Communist Party leaders before heading to the anti-Japanese front. The choice of Wuhan No. 5 Hospital (formerly known as Gao Longpang Hospital) as the site for the memorial hall is because Dr. Bethune worked here day and night during his time in Wuhan, rescuing soldiers and civilians injured in the war, leaving behind a precious cultural and spiritual legacy for the city.
