The Yenjiazhai Ruins

The Yenjiazhai Ruins are a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hubei Province.

The Yenjiazhai Ruins

Located in Shuangheping, Shangquanping Village, Donggong Town, Nanzhang County. This is a mountain stronghold site from the Qing Dynasty, built in the seventh year of the Jiaqing reign (1802). It has a rectangular layout, approximately 108 meters long from north to south and about 30 meters wide from east to west. The fortress walls were constructed with strip stones, standing about 5 to 8 meters high and around 1.7 meters wide. There are two gates on the east and west sides, with the west gate being a two-story building inscribed with the words “Zhongyi Stronghold” (Loyalty and Righteousness Stronghold). Fifty houses are preserved within the stronghold. It is one of the more intact ancient mountain strongholds still existing in Hubei Province. (Fifth Batch)
