The Chen Haogang Site

The Chen Haogang Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hubei Province.

The Chen Haogang Site

Located in Changgang Village, Gaoling Town, Shishou City, it is a cluster of Neolithic sites. Comprising 11 Neolithic sites — the Chen Haogang Site, Zhangjiashan Site, Xujia Gang Site, Hujia Gang Site, Wangjia Gang Site, Taizi Tai Site, Wujia Gang Site, Guangteng Gang Site, Cuijia Tai Site, Liuji Zhu Site, and Hushantou Site — the Chen Haogang Site lies at the center. These sites are situated within sight of one another, spaced between 500 to 3,000 meters apart. Analysis of the stratigraphic layers and collected pottery shards from these sites indicates that they all date to roughly the same period, spanning from the late Daxi Culture to the late Shijiahe Culture. This site complex is quite extensive and holds significant academic value for exploring the origins of civilization.
