Huangmei Gaotasi Pagoda

Huangmei Gaotasi Pagoda is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Located in the southeastern corner of Chengzheng Street, Huangmei Town, Huangmei County. Also known as Baichi Tower or Luanshi Tower. Built in the eighth year of Dazhong Xiangfu (1015). An octagonal, thirteen-story, dense-eave style brick pagoda with wooden structural imitation, standing 30 meters tall in total. It features 88 Buddha niches. The ground floor has an entrance on the eastern side leading via a corridor to a rectangular pagoda chamber. Floors two and above are solid. Each level alternately has lattice windows or paneled windows. The exterior wall of the third floor bears inscriptions such as "Long Live the Emperor," "Prosperity for Generations," "Peace for the People and Prosperity for All," "Shared Merit," and "Together Attain Buddhahood," carved in relief on some bricks. During restoration in 1986, the underground palace was excavated, revealing that each floor’s core contained a stone jar housing a silver-lidded jar, which in turn held gold and silver foil wraps, Buddhist relics, golden springs, crystal balls, bronze ornaments, and more. A large number of "Wu Zhu" coins, "Kai Yuan Tong Bao" coins, and copper coins bearing Northern Song dynasty reign marks were found inside and outside the stone jars.

On October 7, 2019, Gaotasi Pagoda was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
