The Saidun Site

The Saidun Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hubei Province.

Located 500 meters east of Hukouzha Village, Wangbu Township, Huangmei County, the Saidun Site dates back to the Neolithic Age and is a provincial-level cultural heritage site. It covers an area of approximately 200,000 square meters, with a cultural layer 0.7–1 meter thick. In 1983 and 1986, a total of 700 square meters were excavated, including 36 tombs from the same period. Stone tools unearthed include adzes, chisels, knives, spades, axes, and arrowheads; jade artifacts include huang pendants, jade rings, and hairpins; pottery is predominantly coarse red-brown pottery with sand tempering, followed by black pottery made from fine clay, with a small number of painted pottery pieces. Decorative patterns include string patterns, incised lines, appliqué ridges, basketweave patterns, and perforations. Vessel types include tripods, gui vessels, dou stem cups, jars, pots, cups, and basins.
